Who are we?

Background
Mara Roses is duly certified by the Horticultural Crop Development Authority of Kenya with a valid export license No LA11/1004267. We are also duly licensed by the Kenya Plant Health Inspection Service (KEPHIS) and the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA). We are an active member of the Kenya Flower Council.
We currently have two farms: one in the Mulot area of Narok County near the world-renowned Masai Mara Game Reserve, and the other in the Kamureito area of Bomet County overlooking Kenya’s largest water tower, the Mau Forest.
In terms of sustainability initiatives, Mara Roses practices the following global best farming practices:
- Organic farming practices using natural farmyard manure sourced from our Masai neighbors.
- Green Energy and Solar Power to run most of our key operations during the day.
- Members of the Kenya Rainwater Alliance (KRA).
- Elaborate water harvesting from our built-up areas and surface runoff to reduce soil erosion and flooding.
- Our strategic plan is to plant 10,000 trees by the year 2025.
- Organic pest management, as part of our efforts to ensure environmentally friendly outcomes.
- During extreme drought situations, we provide water to our neighbors for livestock and domestic use.
The farms employ from the local community, with the current workforce of 70 trained staff members comprising 90% female workers who are known to be gentle on flowers.
